Senators to the White House


How many sitting Senators have moved directly to the White House from the upper chamber, and who were they? There are only three in our long history: Warren Harding, John F. Kennedy, and Barack Obama. Will 2020 see a fourth? Five sitting senators — Michael Bennett, Cory Booker, Amy Klobuchar, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren — remain in the contest for the nation’s highest office.
