Starting today, and every Monday through the November 2020 election, the AEI Election Watch team will provide an interesting fact about the elections. Today we start with something that is often overlooked. We complain a lot about our elections. They are too long, too expensive, and too negative. But it is important to remember that when Americans go to the polls on November 3, 2020, it will be the 59th time in an unbroken line since 1789 that Americans will cast their votes freely, a record that can’t be found anywhere else in the world and one about which we should be very proud.
